Take this for what you will, but a French guy in a msn Pretender group I belong to said something that made me fall off my chair.
Get ready for this news
You won't believe me when I tell you this
Are you ready yet
Well ARE you
Okay...now that you all prolly hate me, here goes. Pretender against Pretender (which I'm guessing is the Pretender 2001) AND Island of the Haunted are said to have a release date in 2004, 2nd semester...whatever that is. Now keep in mind I just read this, and seeing as how I live in America, I can't very well just find out. So if anybody here lives in France, please FIND OUT!! Oh yeah, unfortunatly there aren't any outtakes on the first two DVDs...but rumors are there will be extra stuff on these two releases.
Now how's that for GOOD news??

Wait, is this only in France, though? Cuz that would NOT be good news, Jay. It's only making me more jealous! I thought that American DVD players won't accept European DVDs.

Countries are divided into different regions, some DVD players only play DVD's from their particular region. BUT some are MULTIREGIONAL which means you could play DVD's from ANY region... of course that doesn't help if the DVD player you got only plays region 1 etc . I have some vague memory about there being some sneaky way to getting your DVD player to play DVD's from different regions, but I'd have to ask around for more info on that...

Okay, so let's say that we could play them on American DVD players. How would we get them? I went to the Ask Dr. Mike site www.geocities.com/road_trip_us_2000/drmike/mikeindex.htm and followed the links to see if it is even possible to order the DVDs, but the whole site is in French and I have no idea what it says! I did find out that it would be $48.84 for each 1/2 season, so total for seasons one and two would be $195.36 and that's without shipping charges (which would most likely be astronomical). But I'd be willing to pay five times that to get tP on DVD. Seriously, if FOX doesn't do anything, I'm going to find someone here who's going to study abroad in France to get them for me! Emily

I'm going crazy!!! And it sems that I finally found other "Pretenders" that are going as crazy as I am!!! I can't believe that I can buy such obscure DVD's as "Red Dwarf", "The Young Ones", "Lexx" and even "The Tick" (one season, nine episodes only!) BUT absolutely no PRETENDER graces the shelves! I live in supposedly sunny California where I am saddled with TNT's ungodly time slot of 5:00 AM for The Many Adventures of Jarod the Weiss . Of course, I would love to pop in a DVD (with the episodes in order, what a concept) whenever I NEED a PRETENDER fix but no... the forces of the universe (or whatever "I don't want to share my toys" conglomerate owns the series rights) conspire against me and I am doomed to "pretending" that the DVD's will be available IN ENGLISH AND IN THE US ANYTIME SOON!!!!!!!! Well, at least I have found others to commiserate with. Maybe we can "pretend" to be consoled together?

Well, at least I have found others to commiserate with. Maybe we can "pretend" to be consoled together? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, Ellisheva! I'm new to CP Msg Bd as well, and it consoles me to no end that there are A LOT of Pretender freaks out there, JUST LIKE ME!!!! So welcome to CP Board!! I'm sorry you have to view tP at 5 am, and I hope you have taping cabilities! Me, I'm taping them anyway, so 8am doesn't matter so much. As for you DVD comments, NO KIDDING!!! Outrageous! We have something going that will HOPEFULLY bring out Eps on DVD, so check out pretender_gurl's post ENCOURAGING NEWS, and HELP US TAKE ACTION. In fact, EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED, PRODDED, and BEGGED to HELP!!!!!!! So, SPREAD THE WORD!!! If you need email address for Fox/NBC, who owns the rights to the episodes, or for TNT who own the rights to the movies, let me or pretender_gurl know, and WE'LL HELP YOU. And, as for you last comment, DEFINITELY!!!!! Let's all Pretend to be consoled together, and hopefully, it'll work! crackerjacknpez (aka sabs) ^_^
