I've got an idea for a new fic (alright it jumped down my throat and I couldn't help but write down the outline... Hey my muse is back! Who cares if she came back for the wrong story?!! ). Anyway I need a bit of help understanding what it is Jarod does when he is Pretending to be someone else, I mean... really. Coz I get the gist, I suppose, I mean he's a genuis but does he re-create the circumstance in his mind and using his genius just puts all the facts and factors into that computer like head of his and out comes experiences that he feels as if they were his own or is it something more inexplicable and unexplainable? All your thoughts and opinions would really help me in understanding it all and I'm going to see if I can write this new story idea (have no idea if it will even get off the ground but I'm going to try, after losing the ability to write for a few weeks I want to get back to it and right now anything will do, as long as I'm writing! lol).

It seems to me that when Jarod "pretends" it's like he's playing a game. He gathers all of the information and lays it out infront of him. He then goes through each part until the life he's reading about becomes HIS. He then looks at the info again and arrives at a hypothesis, which is usually solidified by the actions of a person he's watching.
Take "Corn Man" for example...he knew that the mother and daughter were missing, and found it suspicious that the father/husband said he just talked to them. He then checked their insurace carrier and his suspicions (sp?) were confirmed when he saw how much money the guy would get if they died.
Thats just what it seems like to me...I could have missed a MASSIVE step. I'll let someone else fill in the blanks.

Anything to get a fic from you, Anna!
I always thought it was a little bit like profiling - understanding the motivations of other people. But there is definitely more to it. It's like he literally puts himself in someone elses shoes.
We have this really cheesy textbook in my Major Selection class and it says that there are two different ways people take in information.
Sensory thinkers use the facts that come from experience and they like to focus on the details. Intuitive thinkers can see the big picture and pay attention to the meaning behind the facts.
I think Jarod falls into a whole new category that combines these two ideas and also adds in Jarod's genius.
Just a thought. I'm really excited about your fic, Anna! ;D

I promise you will. And I think you'll enjoy it, it's all mystical, with Prophets, The Scrolls, myths, legends, Knights Templar and the story spans about a couple of thousand years... (why is it the longer I work on a story the more ambitious it gets? )
